Schlossberg takes you down the path of darkness, unexpectantly, slowly, and then drowns you in it. Charwood was an excellent read. My first in the "eco-horror" genre. Orna is an awkward woman, coming out of the pandemic and wants to mingle. She mingles, and gets far more than she bargains for in a cultish like political group. The disdain she holds for religion, her father and anyone else in her life slowly comes full circle when waking to the nightmare fueled place she had been forced to being a part of. Take a walk into Charwood, a slow decent into madness, and doubt everything you believe. This author's crisp dialogue gifts you a story you can only hope isn't real. Angels, faith, something better left unsaid, and a bleak reality strewn together with words will pull you in and savagely take you to the end. Enjoy this book, I highly recommend!
