Welcome to Free Fiction Friday!
This is a piece of unedited fiction that takes place after the events in Stolen Seed, a novella about a Serial killer, Benson Rhoades, who visits the small town of Stevats and looses his ability to kill. This first person narrative resembles a true crime style in two parts. I doubt the entire thing will ever discover the light of day, but if the narrative intrigues you about Stevats, a serial killer, or even the cult involvement, you could always purchase the novella on the site here, signed and personalized, or head over to Godless or Amazon to purchase it. Thanks, and enjoy, Stolen Childhood : True Crimes of the Midwest, Part 1...
I stumbled on something that horrified, haunted, and drew me in. I discovered a killer. I couldn't find anything on the streaming services or the like to satisfy the true crime appetite I have for this particular person and wanted to give everyone a peek at what I discovered. A blood bath scenario, madness, and what most perceive as evil, in many instances. To protect the victims involved in these heinous crimes, the small town is Stevats.
Before Stevats, a string of unsolved murders began in a sprawling urban jungle in the "City". A place where there is more concrete and bricks than sense and trees. On the third floor, a tiny apartment, nestled in a tall brownstone building, was home to one, Benson Rhoades. This evil incarnate, was a creature of the shadows, a man haunted by a past that was filled with unspeakable horrors.
What enticed Benson to head to the tiny midwestern town of Stevats to kill? In the drab City's monochrome I recieved a partial answer in front of the brownstone. As the day began with little results, I stood in front of the dated brick building, once home to Benson Rhoades, a street light came to life and something caught my eye. Wedged between two bricks was a faded aged business card. It read: "Killing is business, and business is..." the last word was illegible, but Stevats was listed on the card. This pulled me into the most bizarre story. I found out that Benson's childhood was stolen by a string of sadistic abuseers, leaving him with a thirst to kill, like an inferno within.
After so many years how has this card survived unscathed, shy of some age? Who left the card? Who was holding Benson's leash, if anyone, through his rampage? I've stumbled down a rabbit hole that I hope you're interested in coming down. This is the story of a clearly deranged man and the person who may have lead him from the bustling rot of the City to the sprawling bucolic tree lined streets. With a sense of vigor, I hope to bring everyone into this mystery.
