Why I Did Something I’ve Never Done in 6 Years of RV Life

There’s a first time for everything, even in the RV world.

For five and a half, almost six years, Maria and I have traveled through and stayed in many states across the U.S. Every summer season, I land a job somewhere that I want to explore, immerse myself in, and become a part of, and this year, as most of you know, we landed in Bar Harbor, Maine.

I worked at the Hampton by Hilton for the past three and a half months. I’ve met several awesome young people who I connected with, and who have been super good to learn from. They've made me realize that a light among some of the young people in this world exists and gives hope. Some of these young ladies and men are from the U.S., and others are from places I’ve never been; places that linger in my imagination and tantalize that travel bug which often bites. I know that all these hardworking seasonal workers are a force of leaders who linger on the sidelines while they determine what life awaits their adult years and what flame inspires their path. That, my friends in the seasonal workforce, is an amazing and awe-inspiring way to live, and my hat is off to all of you. Thanks for that connection to each and every one of you, especially the Breakfast '26 group (dream team pic below) that I'm slightly attached to and will always keep a watchful eye on. Back to the first time I’ve ever done something in my entire five years of workamping, mid-season, after many months of training, running game in the kitchen, and realizing I wasn’t being paid nearly enough for all the tasks, I found something else. I don’t recommend this, in fact, I should have tried to negotiate a higher wage before starting the Hampton gig back in April, but didn’t, so that’s on me. I’m a member of a website that sends me job searches via email, and a better job with a a significant increase came my way. So, with my two weeks' notice given, I’m moving locations to nearby Trenton, ME, though I’ll still be working in Bar Harbor. This full-time RV adventure is always changing, and with that change, I’m improving my connections and strengthening my already massive retail experience.

I’ll be taking the Mothership to another spot near Mount Desert Island (MDI) to resettle (picture of new set-up below), get situated in another adventure, and keep all of you in the loop. Thank you for coming along, reading about the journey, and being a part of my small fanbase in the writing and travel world. I appreciate you ALL!
