⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
The Blurry Man is my first introduction to Toupin’s work, and it is a staggering debut for me. Based on a true case, the story weaves a gripping fictional narrative—a dark grimoire where the cycle of abuse is transformed into a simplistic, yet compassionate, exploration of mental health. When that kind of darkness settles into the mind, reality warps into a twisted realm where ghosts, occultism, and fate collide. This is a whirlwind of a novel that gripped me from the start; I often found myself holding my breath, questioning the narrator’s reliability. Toupin paints the horror with broad, bold strokes, leading to an ending that hits like a club—a sobering awakening that brings every thread together. Toupin writes with undeniable passion, and her prose shines throughout.
