Welcome to WOW Wednesday Movie Pick, brought to you by Tim Eagle.
In the world of Working on Wednesday, (WOW), I give you a middle of the week movie pick, and a quick review!
Today I'm reviewing, The Lodge, a movie that has been around, and been buried so deep in my list that I almost forgot about it. This is a good movie, and I hope you want to watch my pick of the week. Here's my take on the movie...
This movie was the first to introduce me to Fuck Around Find Out, or as the younger generations say FAFO. This is about a distraught mother who can’t handle the fact that her husband, who she’s separated from, found someone new. After dropping her children off, she does something that I won’t mention and gives you the chills, as well as a "What the fuck just happened?" Fast forward and the new girlfriend, a former cult member, is introduced with the husband’s two children, who sneakily dig into her past. The foursome take a trip to a lodge in the middle of nowhere, a wintery liminal setting. Long story short, boyfriend leaves his kids at the lodge with the girlfriend and things start to unravel from there. Is the house haunted, is this another reboot of The Others (which starred Nicole Kidman)? This movie, although a bit slow in parts, will blow you away when/if you make it to the end. So when you watch it, get through the slow parts and enjoy the ride.
