Ashes of Another Life is a haunting journey into the intersection of madness, oppression, and the blinding influence of extremist religious upbringings. Lindsey Goddard delivers a powerful exploration of human nature under the weight of control. The protagonist, Tara Jane, is a survivor haunted by a past literally forged in flames, a fire started by local hostility but stoked to a tragedy by her own father. A polygamist driven by his own obsessions, he traps his family in the inferno, claiming it to be the will of God.

This story is heartbreaking, haunting, and eye opening, yet it possesses a lingering, visceral quality that stays with you. Moving from stark desolation to the flickering hopes of a new beginning, Goddard takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster and doesn't let go until the final page.
