Welcome to WOW Wednesday Movie Pick, brought to you by Tim Eagle.
In the world of Working on Wednesday, (WOW), I give you a middle of the week movie pick, and a quick review!
Today I'm reviewing, Lowlifes (a tubi original) I’m not one for commercials, but tubi has some very good content, whether it’s an old movie you want to rewatch or the movie Lowlifes, a tubi original, that took me by surprise. Hopefully this pick will help grow your watchlist...
This movie gave a twist to an old, lost in the woods, with lunatics trope . Again, I’m not going to go on and on, because I don’t like spoilers. This is about a white family in an RV (an idea that rings true with me, because, well, I’m a full time RV’er), who get sidetracked by a couple local hicks who are broken down. One hick talks the husband in the RV into giving him a ride to their farm, uh-oh, queue Dueling Banjos? Things take a turn from there. There is a major twist in this movie, one that I, as a creative, would have prolonged to reveal, but it’s a shocker to some, and predicable to others. The movie was fast paced, the acting was okay, for a bunch of actors I hadn’t really seen in anything else, and the plot was strong. I do think that if the marketing for this horror film may have been soft, as I just stumbled onto it, rather than hearing about it from my horror community. Once you begin the movie, and see the plot for what it is, the other gruesome parts, and the acting, will certainly draw you in, and give you something to remember, and maybe watch again?
